I took a friend to visit Greenwich and it is strange how one views a place anew through other people’s eyes and I rediscovered Greenwich once again. The old sailor’s hospital now Greenwich University.
This past weekend it was one end of the river Thames, this is the Greenwich end. The famous Royal Naval Hospital, now Greenwich University. It was a grey day, quite apt for the texture of the buildings. Another entry towards the mapping of the river Thames.
One of those moments that could have passed unnoticed, walking down the path I happen to turn to my left and I saw a brief glance of Winter in that old oak tree that had shed its leaves, the squirrel and the church spire in the distance.
As part of an ongoing project of ‘mapping the river Thames’ one can find common places, such as this conveyor belt that delivers sand into the hull of ships and barges. The Thames is still a working river.
